As a generalist bar, The Utility Bar is designed for people who don't adhere to a particular strength sport and just love an excellent bar.
With a 28.5mm diameter, it's just a tad thicker than an Olympic weightlifting bar (28mm diameter) and a smidge thinner than a powerlifting bar (29mm diameter). Brass bushings and no bearings make for a smooth rotation and an ultra-secure snap ring is used to keep it all together.
A medium-light knurl won't chew your hands up when power cleaning, but it's complemented with centre knurling for a better grip when squatting. Featuring both weightlifting and powerlifting marks, hand positioning is made easy for whatever movement you're doing that day. Lightly ribbed sleeves help keep your weight plates from shifting during your workouts.

IMPORTANT: For cerakote-coated barbells, added care should be used to avoid abrasive metal-to-metal contact. Tight-fitting collars, weight plates, un-lined landmine attachments and j-cups, etc - these can potentially cut into or wear off the cerakote finish. Taking these extra precautions will preserve that beautiful rust-resistant finish for years to come!

I picked up the Bells of Steel Multipurpose Olympic Utility Bar in black zinc with bright zinc sleeves. This is my first purchase with Bells of Steel. I have since purchased the Bare Naked Powerlifting Barbell, Trap Bar, and Arch Nemesis Bar!
This is also the first coated barbell I've ever had (all mine have been chrome or stainless steel). It's beautiful and feels great in the hands (28.5mm is just right for a Multipurpose Barbell).
The advantage of this over a Power Bar is that it's made for all types of Barbell exercises (Powerlifting, Olympic lifting, CrossFit, etc.) and higher reps.
The knurling is less aggressive so it doesn't tear up my hands. I do wish it truly had Medium knurling as it's quite passive, but it's fine for a Multipurpose Barbell. It also has ribbed sleeves to keep weight plates from slipping off (in theory).
For under $200, this may be the best multipurpose Barbell you can get. And Bells of Steel does the BEST job of packing it to prevent damage during transport.
I'm only concerned with the long-term durability and quality of the zinc coating. I just hope it doesn't rub off easily.
Sure, there are plenty of cheaper Barbells available from numerous companies, but Bells of Steel makes high-quality equipment at competitive prices.
My only "complaint" is that it went on sale for $10 less a couple days after I purchased it. I emailed customer service about a 30-day price match guarantee and credit back to my original payment method, but they've never…

So far I love this barbell. It feels great, the knurling is perfect, diameter is perfect, and design overall is phenomenal. My only complaint is that one side isn't lubricated enough and makes a screeching noise when the barbell rotates.
