I will start by saying I love these dumbbells. I have had them for 2 years, and my wife and I use them almost every day of the week.
I have always been careful not to drop them and take care of them, but almost 2 years to the day I bought them, one of the handles broke. The bell dropped its inside most plate as one of the 2 tabs that extend to lock it in. The place would not extend anymore.
There are a few examples of this online on YouTube that show what I am talking about. You can see how one side of the bell mechanism is jammed. I am a very fix-it-oriented person, but there is no fix for this.
I had to order a new handle and ended up ordering 2 just to be safe. This was another $300 CAD on top of the $ 1300 I already spent. Looking back, I may have gone down the road of a full set of rubber bells as I don’t need to save space. These provided me a compromise on versatility and cost.
One thing I will mention. While I never dropped these, there were times I would rest them on end vertically on the ground. Looking at how things broke, I don’t think they are meant to take the load of the bell on the mechanism that way. From now on, I will only rest them flat on the rack or the floor.

But we're genuinely sorry about the handle mechanism breaking on you, especially right around that 2-year mark. That's definitely frustrating, and we totally understand the disappointment of having to invest even more money into these.

I’ve had these dumbbells for 5 months now and they’ve been okay overall. The design is very sleek and the weight adjustment system is very efficient. However, the durability is really lacking. I was training my client and after a tough set, he accidentally dropped the dumbbells about a foot off the ground and now my dumbbells can’t smoothly adjust weights and I can’t adjust the weight below 15lbs.
I know these dumbbells weren’t designed to be dropped but I just wanted to let you know that it only takes one very minor accident for the dumbbells to break then you have to buy a replacement handle for $150 each. Kind of ridiculous honestly.

After I got over the sketchyish feel of the website I bought these. Got a good deal on here and after using them I’m fully in love with these things. I do wish they went heavier than 80 but thats okay! The system is awesome on these. Perfect addition to my home gym. Just wish I bought these sooner!
